Little Girls Big Kitchen

We are girls. We are friends. We are from LA. We like to eat. We like to cook. We teach you how. Then we tell you what "cultural pairing" will go well with said dish/cake/recipe for disaster. Our blog is cool. Our blog is fun. Our blog is relevant. You should read our blog.

White Girl in the City

Hey guys, it’s Dalz here. I’m aware that I’ve been a ‘lil bit M.I.A. with this blog stuff, but that’s just because all my magic is simply behind the scenes. Anyways, this weekend Roxie and I had a falling out and have decided to cease the existence of Two Girls One Kitchen.

JUST KIDDING.

We aim for total world domination and seek to take over the blogosphere, one recipe at a time. Therefore, we could never give up the blog no matter how many uh, calories come between us. We promised to never let sugary goodness come in the way of anything.

Back to the point. This weekend, I endeavored far and wide (I actually just needed a well-deserved vacation) and I took a jaunt to a tiny little city called New York. Of course, being the epicureans that Roxie and I are, I took this getaway as an excuse to indulge in some very delicious food and thought I would share some highlights on the blog. (All the walking around downtown burned off calories….) This isn’t a cooking-recipe-sugarchaos post per say, but more of a review of some excellent food establishments I have the pleasure of presenting to my culturally-aware, intellectually-ravenous audience. If you’re having trouble grasping the theme of my trip, here’s a pretty good depiction of what I (successfully) sought to emulate.

If you need a pick-me-up after a long day of scoping out cute boys shopping, look no further than La Colombe, which was BY FAR one of the best lattes I have ever had in my life.

If you want to see a semi-famous model-DJ-photographer-partygirl, then head to The Smile to do a lil bit of brunching and stalking people-watching. Owned by Carlos Quirarte, profiled in the aforementioned video, The Smile has become a hipster hangout known for more than just the scene. Their baked eggs with avocado are to die for and the grapefruit mimosas are also excellent. Since I was technically “on vacation,” a little champagne was more than necessary for my long, strenuous morning of waking up and going to brunch…

Walking into the hotel in dresses and heels while the staff sets out coffee for breakfast was a little rough. I think I need another vacation to recover from my vacation. #whitegirlproblems
